Ginseng can reduce oxidative damage of cell phone radiation

A study from China shows that cell phone can generate about 900 MHz’s radiation on cell. This radiation can affect the expression of Nrf2 protein, induce oxidative damage, and then lead to morphological abnormalities of liver cells. And the Nrf2 protein is a key component of the antioxidant system.

In this study, rats were placed in a 900MHz’s radiation environment, which generated from mimic cellular phone. They should stay there 4 hours a day, and lasted for 12 weeks. The researchers used two forms of ginseng----American ginseng capsules and silibinin capsules. The results showe that these two ginseng preparations can protect the liver cells from oxidative damage of cell phone radiation. Meanwhile, they can also increasing levels of the superoxide dismutase (SOD) and glutathione, and lower expression of malondialdehyde and Nrf2 protein.
